FDA seizes banned kharra, tobacco and betel nut in Nagpur

NAGPUR: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized banned kharra, scented tobacco and betel nut valued at Rs61,000 from 28 pan stalls across the city.
FDA Joint Commissioner (food) S R Kekare told TOI that the FDA was keeping a watch in the certain suspected areas. These pan kiosks in Reshim Bagh, Manewada square, Medical square, Tukdoji Putla square, Chhota Tajbagh, Gaddigodam and Jaripatka area were under watch.
"We caught sellers red-handed at eight pan kiosks and seize banned material comprising scented tobacco, kharra and scented betel nuts valued at Rs 61,315," said Kekare.
The team which seized the material during the raid included assistant commissioner of FDA (food) M Pawar, food safety officers Sheetal pande, Seema Surkar, Abhay Deshpande, Manoj Tiwari, Anand Mahajan, Pravin Umap, Vinod Dhawad, Lalit Soyam, Raviraj Dhbarde, Kiran Gedam, G Wasabe, Anant Chaudhary and Amit Uplab.
